Privacy Policy
Scope
This policy covers the Fulang app and the fulang.anonpengling.org website, including the pre-launch waitlist and the Android beta signup. Effective 2026-10-02.
What we collect
• Account: your email address, display name, avatar emoji, native language and phonetic setting. If you sign up with email we store a hash of your password, never the password itself. If you sign in with Apple or Google we store the account identifier and email that service gives us. • Learning activity: lesson progress, answers' results, XP, streaks, review schedules, flashcard decks, league standings and friend connections. • Speaking practice: your phone's speech recognition turns your voice into text — Apple's on iPhone, Google's on Android (your phone maker's if Google's is not installed). These recognizers may send the audio to their provider to do this. The app does not record or store audio, and no audio is sent to our servers. In AI conversation lessons, the recognized text of each answer is sent to our server and stored. • Crash reports: if the app crashes or hits an error, a report with the device model, OS and app version, the error details and your account ID (or, while you are signed out, a random install ID the crash reporter creates) is sent to Sentry. • Server logs: our web server logs the IP address, device/browser type and requested address of each request. • Waitlist: the email address, language and sign-up source label you submit on the website. • Android beta signup: the email address, language and sign-up source label you submit on the website, and your browser's language setting. We do not collect location, contacts, photos, payment details or advertising identifiers, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
How we use it
• To run the service: keep your account and progress in sync and grade your answers. • Leagues and friends: your display name and avatar are shown to other learners in leagues and to your friends. • Email: password resets, study reminders (you can turn these off in Settings), launch news for the waitlist, and test invitations and instructions for the Android beta. • To improve lessons and the AI tutor, and to find and fix bugs. • Aggregate statistics such as daily visitor counts. Operators analyze these on an internal server using a copy of the database from which passwords and sign-in tokens have been removed.
Services that process data for us
• Amazon Web Services (Seoul region) hosts our server and database. • Resend delivers our emails. • Sentry receives crash reports. • OpenAI — only in AI conversation lessons and only if you agree on the consent screen: when the tutor can't understand an answer, that answer's text and the tutor's question are sent to OpenAI to work out what you meant. No name, email or other account details are sent. Under OpenAI's API data policy this data is not used to train its models and is kept for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring. You can withdraw this consent anytime in Settings → AI conversation help. • Apple and Google process sign-in when you choose them. Speech recognition is processed by Apple on iPhone and by Google on Android (by your phone maker if Google's recognizer is not installed), under their own terms. The Android beta's tester group and closed test run on Google Groups and Google Play under Google's terms; as the group manager, Fulang can see the Google account email of each member and what members post in the group. We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
• Account data, learning activity and AI conversation answers are kept while your account exists. Deleting your account (Settings → Delete account) deletes them immediately; copies in our daily backups are gone within 14 days. • Waitlist emails are kept until you ask us to remove them. • Android beta signups are deleted within 30 days after the Android app is released on Google Play. • Crash reports and server logs are deleted after a limited period under Sentry's retention policy and our log rotation.
Your choices
You can see and edit your profile in the app, turn study reminders and AI conversation help off in Settings, and delete your account in Settings. To access, correct or delete anything else — including a waitlist or Android beta entry — email us and we will act promptly.
Deleting your Fulang account
To delete your Fulang account and its data: 1. In the Fulang app, open Settings → Delete account and confirm. 2. If you can no longer use the app, email anonpengling@gmail.com from the address you signed up with and ask us to delete your account. We delete it within 7 days and reply when it is done. Deleted: your account, learning activity, flashcards, league and friend data, and AI conversation answers — immediately when you delete in the app. Kept for a limited time: copies in our daily backups, which are gone within 14 days, and crash reports already sent to Sentry, which follow Sentry's retention policy.
Changes
If this policy changes we will post the new version on this page with a new effective date.
